Volvo XC90: Key, locks and alarm / Private Locking
The tailgate and the glove compartment can be locked using the private locking
function to prevent them from being opened, e.g. when the vehicle is left at a workshop
or with a valet.
The function button for private
locking is located in the center display's Function view. Depending on the current
status of the lock, Private Locking Unlocked or Private Locking Locked
will be displayed.

To make it easier to operate the tailgate when your hands are full, it can
be opened and closed by moving your foot in a forward kicking motion under the rear
bumper...

Other information:
All-wheel drive (AWD1), also called fourwheel drive, means that power
is distributed to all four wheels, which improves traction.
To achieve the best traction, power is automatically directed to the wheels that
have the best grip. The system continuously calculates the need for torque to the
rear wheels, and can immediately redistribute up to half of the engine's torque
to the rear wheels...
Passing assistance can be used with Adaptive Cruise Control* or Pilot Assist*.
Several conditions must be met for passing assistance to be possible.
In order to activate passing assistance:
your vehicle must be following a vehicle ahead (target vehicle)
your vehicle's current speed must be at least 70 km/h (43 mph)
the set speed must be high enough to safely pass another vehicle...
